Thanks for promoting QRP. Too many feel that you must run 1500W to contact a DX station. Some of my most enjoyable QSO's have been via my 5W Yaesu QRP HF rig from the middle of the Everglades National Park. In late Jan 2004, I worked MW1IRW and HK3JRL from a canoe with alligators watching from either side-no joke! Take care and 73! Ed AE4TM

I own a ft-817 and I was serching the web to gain more information on this rig. Your web site by far has the most interesting information on this rig. One thing I was unable to find was information on the set-up beyond the owner manual. On thing was looking for was the setting for the ssb mic gain. Default is 50. As a experience operator, what do you believe the best setting is? 73's de KC8MEW

I fournd your web page through the QRP article on the web site (4 days in May). Great Web page. About 4 years ago, I decided to run QRP in the 10 meter ARRL DX contest. I ws interfering with my neighbors TV when running 100 watts to I decided to run CW QRP. I had a ball running qrp & I noticed that I was still able to work the statiions although I often had to "wait in line". Any way since then I have run the ARRL DX Contests, WPX CW Contests and CW Sweepstakes running QRP. My most exciting moment in QRP contesting is durring the 2002 ARRL DX CW Contest was working Jordan at 9 PM Saturday night on 40 meters using 5 watts & I got him on the first call!!\ My main rig is a old Drake TR7. At Christmas my XYL got me a K2, I am having problem getting enoough output with it (only 2-3 watts on any band) and I am in the process of troubleshooting the radio.By the way, I am treasurer of the Canto Amateur Radio Club. Members just bought 15 Rock Mite 1/2 watt CW radio and many memebers built them as a club project. 73 de Roger W8VE

Hello, Tony: I downloaded your call sign spreadsheet as I am considering changing my vanity call sign to another different one! So I will ask you, also: What is your opinion of ABØJ as a call sign? I am thinking of changing it to a "W" or a "K" prefix. Incidentally, I thought your segment in the CQ tape on DXing, I believe, was excellent. Any thoughts on my call sign? 73, Tom ABØJ (currently, maybe forever) (My other call signs have been ABØJL, KIØPO and KBØJHZ; WAØEGT long time ago)(I am also considering KIØP for a new call sign.)
